CORONAVIRUS - updated info 17.03.2020

All face to face appointments have been or will be converted to a telephone appointment.

One of our reception team will contact you to advise of the appointment time in due course

If the clinician considers a face to face appointment to be necessary this will be arranged either by video consultation or a visit to the surgery.

 —

If you have a new persistent cough or fever please DO NOT COME TO THE SURGERY but refer to https://111.nhs.uk/service/covid-19 for guidance on self isolation and when to seek further help.  We are of course available on the telephone.

If you come to the surgery, before entering the building please use the hand sanitiser in the foyer or wash your hands in the patient bathroom.  Please practice social-distancing and sit or stand at least 1 metre away from the person next to you.

MEDICATION

We have received a lot of queries about medication collection:

If you are symptom-free medication can be collected as usual.  If you have Covid-19 symptoms and need to collect medication please telephone the surgery for advice.

If you are worried about entering the building, medication can be dispensed from the side window on the right-hand side of the building.

Patients aged over 70 who are self isolating are able to order two months supply of medication at their usual re-order date.  Unfortunately we cannot extend this to all patients because we need to secure medicine stocks.

There is huge demand for our delivery service at the moment, please help us to look after the most vulnerable in the community and collect if you are able to.

Likewise, our dispensary telephone line is incredibly busy, please use on-line ordering if you are set up for it.

Thank you very much for your co-operation at this challenging time.

Please bear with us at what is a fast moving and challenging time as we may need to change our practices in line with current Public Health advice. Any updates will be published here.

COVID-19  updated info 19.03.2020

MEDICATION SUPPLY

Our dispensary telephone line is incredibly busy so please consider the following alternatives before ringing.

Use on-line ordering.  Reception can reset your password if your account is locked.  If you do not have on-line access it can be set up without the need to visit the surgery.  Please go to https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/the-nhs-app/ for more information and to sign up.

Use the new dispensary email address.  THIS IS FOR ROUTINE MEDICATION ORDERING ONLY

fownhope.dispensary@nhs.net

Please do not order in advance of your usual re-order date.

We are working hard to ensure everyone receives the medication they need when they need it.

All medication is now being dispensed from the window on the right-hand side of the building. This is intended to further reduce footfall through the surgery and fresh air reduces the risk of cross infection.  You may need to bring an umbrella!

Patients aged over 70 who are self isolating are able to order two months supply of medication at their usual re-order date.  Unfortunately we cannot extend this to all patients because we need to secure medicine stocks.

There is also huge demand for our delivery service at the moment, please help us to look after the most vulnerable in the community and collect if you are able to.

We are appealing for people under 70 who are not at high risk to volunteer to deliver medication to patients in the community. Please contact me directly via Facebook, email (fownhope.medicalcentre@nhs.net) or to leave your name and contact with a receptionist.

Thank you very much

ROUTINE APPOINTMENTS

As you are all aware we are in unprecedented times and the surgery is extremely busy dealing with the Covid-19 crisis.  Any routine or clinical discussions that are not Covid-19 related – unless an acute clinical urgent problem – cannot be dealt with by the surgery at the moment.  We hope for all of your understanding during this difficult time and many thanks for your support so far.

MEDICATION SUPPLY

We are working hard to ensure that everyone receives their medication on time.  If you have been advised to self isolate because of your age or high risk from a Covid-19 infection, dispensary will be in touch to ask how we can help supply medication to you when your collection is due.  Everyone in this category will be given a 2 month supply.

Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to deliver medication -

we will be in touch soon.

Please continue to order in the normal way -

there is no need to re-order earlier than usual.

FOWNHOPE MEDICAL CENTRE.   3rd April 2020

From Monday (6th April) the dispensary 'hatch' will be closed for an extra hour (between 12noon and 2pm) to allow dispensers cope with the massively increased demand and continue to provide a safe and accurate service. Many thanks

Corona Virus - Fownhope

We have been made aware that some patients are receiving phone calls, texts and letters from fraudsters. They will try and obtain your personal details and in particular your NHS number.

Scammers are sophisticated, opportunistic and will try many ways to get the information they want. They often target the vulnerable.

If you are suspicious, do not give any details over the phone, hang up and then ring your GP Practice to confirm.
